Keepers

Keepers

Keeper Rules Explained

  1. Must keep 3 Keepers (players) each year
  2. A player will be considered a Keeper once they have been kept for the first time.
  3. Keeper will be placed in the last three rounds of the draft (13-14-15)
  4. A Keeper (Player) can be kept a maximum of:
    1. 3 years consecutively by the original owner (who kept the player first)
    2. A 4th year may be optioned if the Keeper (player) is traded/acquired via Free Agency by another owner after the player has been kept for at least one year.
NOTE: No Keeper (player) may be kept for a 5th consecutive year
  5. Keepers must be officially selected in the league app 8 days prior to the draft (ie. drafting on Sep 5, 2020, keepers must be selected in Yahoo by Aug 28, 2020)
  6. If Keepers are not selected in Yahoo by the deadline or announced to the league prior to the August deadline in Yahoo, the following will be automatically be applied to that team:
    1. The top 3-point earners from the previous season that are eligible to be kept will be selected by the Commissioner, regardless of position and player status (ie. Retirement, DST)
    2. Players not eligible to be kept will not be included in the Top 3 for that team
    3. No exceptions will be made for this rule
    4. Further explanation on Keeper Scenarios:
      1. Original keeping Owner can only keep a player for 3 years in a row (allowing them to use that player for up to 4 years of play) after the player has been kept for at least one year.
      2. A player can be traded from the original owner and be kept by the new owner up to the 4th year (kept 4 times)
      3. If kept by more than one owner within the 4 years, the original owner may keep the player again within the 4 years max (ie. Owner1 kept PlayerA 2 years, then traded to Owner2, who kept PlayerA for one year, and then traded back to Owner1 – Owner1 could keep PlayerA for the 4th year (maximum of 3 times in 4 years)
      4. Players Re-entering the Draft Pool:
        1. For a player who is going back into the draft because they are Keeper Ineligible (not just because they were not kept, but they cannot be kept by the keeper rules):
          1. That player cannot be drafted in the 1st round by the last Owner who had the player on their roster at year end
          2. As long as a linear draft order is in place, the only exception to drafting the player in the 1st round is the last Owner is the last person to draft in the first round (meaning, all owners with a pick in the first round were given equal chance to select that player).
          3. If an owner does not have a draft pick in the first round, they are excluded from the previous rule being applied.
          4. Penalty for selecting an ineligible player:
            1. If you ignore this rule and draft the player anyhow, whether by mistake or auto-draft or whatever, you will have this player removed from your roster after the draft
            2. You will select another player from the remaining list to add to your roster (excluding the player in question)
            3. That player will be placed on Waivers and normal waiver rules/FAAB limits apply once items i + ii are completed
